Negros Philippines forest home to endangered spotted deer, warty pig and Hazels forest frog.

A camera survey of the almost impenetrably dense forests of Negros, Philippines, has captured the first image of the rare spotted deer.

Just a few hundred warty pigs now remain in the wild. Hunting is the main threat to their existence.

Negros is one of just three island in the Philippines where the spotted deer and the warty pig roam wild. The mammals are often hunted for sport and they are being driven to extinction.

The islands core forest has survived because it is so impenetrable.

The forests of the Philippines are home to many other species that exist nowhere else on Earth, including the endangered Hazels forest frog. It is a wonderful repository of biodiversity.
